I never regreted leaving there after I retired, in 1999, but it is a good place to work if you believe in working for a living and stay out of politics!
I'm located in the foothills in East Tennessee, half way between Chattanooga and Knoxville. Love it here, especially the low cost of living as compared to Illinois.
