The only problem is replacing him with a better OC!

Now a frontrunner for Arians replacement seems to be none other than Todd Haley. Not a good fit IMO. His father worked for the Steelers for years, so I am sure he is tight with the Rooney clan.

Something I read today kinda reinforces what I've said here about BB. The great coaches have something others just don't. And they learn from every experience but it doesn't matter who they learned under. Al Groh who coached with Parcells, BB, and Coughlin said this in an article in a Boston paper today..."Now defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech, Groh is not surprised at the success of either as they square off for the second time in four years across the field in the Super Bowl. They are, he said, products of the Parcells Way, but also men who would have the same obsessive attention to detailed preparation even if they never met the man."

They would be great whether they coached under Parcells or Mother Teresa. IMHO.

If they can't make it they will be forced to leave. Then again lots of bad coaches get recycled. And I didn't say they were BAD coaches. Just BETTER when they worked for BB ;)

Well then all those NE assistants who left and flamed out on their own are just bad coaches and should just leave the profession.

It's hard to argue BB is avg when he's been to 7 SB's and won 5. 2 as DC and 3 as HC.

I just happen to believe when an assistant leaves to be HC and has success it's because he had greatness in him.(without discounting the influence of his mentors) If he had great success as an assistant prior but didn't do well on his own it's prolly an indication he assisted a great HC. IMHO.

I, for one, would not have said that AF. If those coaches had gone on to be winners then I woulda credited BB. Actually BB is getting the credit, just not the positive type.

You can have that opinion if you wish. If Romeo, Charlie, Mangini et al had all gone on to be great coaches you guys woulda said it was the coaches who made BB. There was already talk about that after they left and he hadn't been back to the big game. Well...he got there in 08 and he's there again. With all new coaches and all new players. If a guy has success with a group of coaches and when they leave he's not as good? Seems to me you'd hafta give the assistants more credit. What'd Parcells do after BB and Coughlin left? Don't get me wrong. They both felt they learned a lot from the tuna. But it was the tuna that never went back again. While BB and Coughlin are here again.

BB just keeps on rolling. The Pats have been raided year after year

airfresh, your logic is a bit flawed. I'd say assistants that go on to achieve success is better proof the coach is not only able to guide his players but pass on his skills to his assistants as well.

Without Kraft money and a good front office Belicheat is only as good as...well I'd say that describes his situation in Cleveland. Again, your theories and analogies never cease to amaze me. I, for one have always thought Parcells was an overrated windbag just one step up from those of the Ryan clan.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid AF.

Let's not forget his less than stellar career as the Browns head coach.

You won't wanna hug after this scout...

The fact that the coaches who left BB haven't had success is because he made THEM better then they were. A coach who has assistants leave and have great success after they leave shows that they made HIM better then he really was. Proof BB is a great coach.

Another fact... Parcells never went to another Super Bowl without BB. BB won 2 with Parcells, won 3 on his own and went to 5 so far on his own with 3 completely different sets of players(only 2 players have been around for all 5). It appears BB made Parcells look better then he really was.

Still wanna hug? ;)

He lost his starting QB on a Rams team that imploded this year. His only year with the team. Not much of a chance.

Put McDaniels on the Steelers and see how well he does. Won't get the chance but I'd bet he'd be good for Ben and that offense.

Here's what Branden Lloyd has to say about Josh... "I can't even lie about that. I'm tied to McDaniels. He uses me differently than other offensive coordinators used me in my entire career. He uses me as an every-play receiver. The short game, mid-range game, gimmick passes, deep balls. I do everything in this offense as opposed to other coordinators who would just run me off as the deep guy; run me off into double coverage and then say I'm not open. So I really like how Josh uses me within the offense. I'm extremely comfortable in the offense."

Lloyd then continued:

"Probably No. 1 (as a factor), because I want to be successful, and I want to earn whatever money I'm making. I want to be used in ways where I feel comfortable and I can be successful. And Josh knows how to do that."

I'm guessing Mike Wallace could use a guy like that running the offense. Maybe he wouldn't be wasted running screen passes or down the field into double coverage all day.

Just sayin ;)

...and how did Josh do as OC with the Rams? I'd say his time coaching away from the Patriots points to the fact that he was not the reason for the Patriots success. The same could be said for Charlie Weiss.

He's still young enough to get a 2nd chance Dice. In the meantime he's not being given the HC job but the OC job at which he excelled prior to leaving for Denver. Had he not been signed by NE he woulda done a great job with Ben at the controls. Let's not forget his QB in Denver was Kyle Orton. Can't make chicken salad outta chicken chit. Give him Big Ben and see how he would utilize his talents.

Oh, another retread fresh, I see.;) So he's just another broken HC branch from the BB coaching tree?

Cameron, as Miami well knows, is a big reason too. Although he has been dealt bad QB's to work with too.

Doncha remember Dice? They scarfed up Josh McDaniels before the season ended and announced he would be the OC next year. He flamed out as a head coach but he did pretty well as OC.

Cam Cameron to Pittsburgh? They may be stupid, but they aren't dumb fresh. The Steelers could get the Pats OC, oh wait, he went to PSU. Who's replacing him?

Maybe you could lure the Ravens O coordinator with a draft pick to Baltimore.
