Ther terms on the card say you get 3% cash back on gas purchased at Costco or "domestic stand-alone gas stations" but specifically excludes convenience stores. So I don't know what this means in practical terms since every gas station seems to have a convenience store too.

I was hoping I could get 3% cash back whe using the card to fill-up at RaceTrac because they seem to be a few cents cheaper than Costco usually. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Yes, I have some thoughts. Just put a line thru the sentence that states convenience stores are excluded. That's what I do.

tsanta:

I think you're misreading maxstar's point. He's not saying, the way I understand his comment, that it's not a useful question, but rather than joining this website to start the thread with the question you asked, and hoping/expecting random people will anonymously give you the correct or accurate or complete response, why not ask Costco directly what gas stations qualify for the "cash back".

But, if it will make a difference, here's the link to the Costco
TrueEarnings® Card from Costco and American Express, also known as the Costco Credit Card from American Express:

TrueEarnings Card

You wrote "It's a perfectly reasonable question to post on a forum like this - especially since Costco gas rewards is a very popular program with people who think about things like how to get the best value on fill-ups...in other words, people who might also be inclined to be active on a site like this." I would suggest that if you discussed the program, it would be a perfectly reasonable issue to discuss, but if you had a question about the program, it would be better to go directly to the companies involved to get your answer...and, perhaps, then start a thread to discuss the card's value.

Again, I think that was maxstar's point, that you should get the answer for your specific question from those best qualified to answer your question.

On that note, welcome to Gas Buddy, and we look forward to your posting your first gas prices for the benefit of your fellow Dallas Gas Buddy members, helping them be more knowledgeable shoppers.

My thoughts are why are you raising the issue here? It is great to have you here as a member, but did you join just to find out the terms of your credit card? Why don't you call the company that issued the card and ask them how their card works?
